Bachelor of Commerce

The B. Com degree or Bachelor of Commerce degree was first initiated at University of Birmingham by William Ashley. The Bachelor of Commerce degree prepares candidates to face the growing and varied requirements of running a business. Looking after daily transactions, maintain financial records of all transactions, preparing the balance sheet and auditing financial records are some of the job responsibilities of a person who has a Bachelor of Commerce degree.

With companies expanding their horizons and venturing into foreign territories there is a growing need of qualified professionals who understand business operations and are capable of managing it on a regular basis. The Bachelor of Commerce degree is one of the few programs that meet this requirement. As it is directly related to the fundamental requirements of any business there is a wide scope of employment for candidates enrolled in a B.Com program. In most countries the curriculum of Bachelor of Commerce is for three years, however in some places it may be of four years.

Nowadays a Bachelor of Commerce degree is offered in different disciplines; some of the common courses offered are B. Com (Foreign Trade), B. Com (Tax Procedure), B. Com (Computer Application) and B. Com (E-Commerce).
